Week of August 26, 2019 (Week 1) - Introductions

  • Introduce myself/students

  • Class Procedures/Rules (nametags, seat assignments, headphones, etc.)

  • Ice Breaker Activity - what did they do over the summer

  • Go Noodle Activity

Week of September 2, 2019 (Week 2) Unit 1 - Computer Terminology

  • Review Class Procedures/Rules, add in ClassDojo

  • Go over different parts of computers - using what is in the room

  • Talk about other technology and what it is used for - iPads, cameras, etc.

  • GoNoodle

  • Discuss how technology helps us

Week of September 9, 2019 (Week 3) Unit 1- Computer Parts

  • Review Class Procedures/Rules, including ClassDojo

  • Break the class up into pairs to complete Computer Word Search

  • After completing, in pairs, discuss what each part is, and what it does

  • Choose Your Own Adventure using education.com

Week of September 16, 2019 (Week 4) Unit 2 - Digital Citizenship

  • Review Class Procedures/Rules

  • Introduce Treasure Box and Freetime Area

  • Get to know how the students use technology at home - quick activity

  • Next, ask students about what games they play or videos do they watch

  • Discuss why it is important to be a good person. Transfer that to being a good digital citizen online. 

  • Introduce netsmartzkids.org, Begin PowerPoint presentation "Be Safer Online with Netsmartz!" 

Week of September 23, 2019 (Week 5) Unit 2 - Digital Citizenship

  • Review Treasure Box and Freetime Area

  • Review what we learned about being a good digital citizen last week

  • Finish PowerPoint presentation "Be Safer Online with Netsmartz!" 

Week of September 30, 2019 (Week 6) Unit 2 - Digital Citizenship

  • Review what we learned about being a good digital citizen in the last 2 weeks

  • Break kids up into pairs to work on Netsmartz Safety Stories

  • After 10 min. students will present Netsmartz Safety Story

  • Wrap Up Digital Citizenship 

  • Treasure Box Time

Week of October 7, 2019 (Week 7) Unit 3 - abcya.com

  • Review with students how to open up Google (internet)

  • Help students navigate to abcya.com, using bookmarks

  • Once at abcya.com, click on 1st, for 1st grade

  • Introduce Sight Word BINGO and The Number Race

  • Play together as a class

  • Give students time to try it

Week of October 14, 2019 (Week 8) Unit 3 - abcya.com

  • Open Google, navigate to abcya.com, go to 

  • Introduce Story Maker

  • Go step-by-step name, showing them how to draw, and where to type

  • Print off for display and a grade

Week of October 21, 2019 (Week 9) Unit 4 - roomrecess.com

  • Introduce roomrecess.com

  • Do one reading game and one math game together

Week of January 6, 2020 (Week 8) Unit 5 - Testing Skills

  • Welcome Back - How was your Christmas Break? 

  • Talk about MAP testing

  • Review all the Tools

  • Why are the tests important? 

  • Watch the video and Do Practice Questions 

Week of January 13, 2020 (Week 9) - Pivot Animator

  • What is Pivot Animator? 

  • Demonstrate how to use it.

  • Give students time to try it.

Week of January 27, 2020 (Week 1) Unit 6 - Writing

  • What is your favorite animal and why? Discussion and Information Gathering

  • W.1.6. With guidance and support from adults, use a variety of digital tools to produce and publish writing, including in collaboration with peers.

  • W.1.8. With guidance and support from adults, recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a question.

  • Using Favorite Animal information create iMovie after creating Google Slides.

Week of February 3, 2020 (Week 2) Unit 6 - Writing
